Short description of the artwork
The accordionist played from the rhinoceros carriage every afternoon. People praised the parasol, the bright colours and even the balloon, but no one mentioned the music. She began to believe it existed only inside her. One windless day she stopped.
Across the water, rings continued spreading from the boat; the rhinoceros’s colours shifted with the missing chords, and the balloon dipped in time with a melody no ear admitted hearing. The unseen harmony had entered everything. A fisherman finally called, ‘Please play the part that makes the water remember.’ She did—not louder, only more honestly. No applause followed.
Instead, the boat turned home, the rhinoceros breathed deeper and a child began humming. It was enough. Some music did not need to be seen acknowledging its maker to be real.
