Short description of the artwork

The Melody Without a Beginning

They said every rhinoceros horn was merely a horn—but his was an instrument.

Whenever a soft breeze passed between the rocks and touched the curve of his horn, a sound arose. It was neither the sound of war nor a warning, but a note as delicate as warm water brushing against cold skin.

And the rhinoceros began to wonder.

One day he raised his head toward the sky and asked himself:

“When was the world’s first note heard? Before instruments? Before humankind? Before the heart learned to beat quickly or slowly?”

No one knew the answer. But he found three companions who, like him, heard sound not with their ears but with their souls.

A blind woman could not see the world, yet she could feel the color of sound. She said melodies were sometimes blue, sometimes gold, and sometimes a shade that had no name.

A mute clown could not speak, yet the slightest movement of his finger could extinguish an orchestra or set it ablaze.

And a deaf young man understood rhythm because his heart sometimes raced and sometimes played as softly as rain.

The four set out together, accompanied by balloons as light as human thoughts rising into the sky and fish drifting beneath the water like unfinished sentences.

Wherever the wind blew, the horn played. Every unheard note descended into their hearts and became real.

Then they understood:

The first note had never begun. It had always existed—with the first wave, the first breath, the first glance, and the first silent love.

Sound was not invented. It was discovered.

From that day on, the rhinoceros stopped trying to learn how to play.

He began to feel.

And for the first time, silence became a song.
